Alliance Francaise's February "Ciné-Club de l'Alliance" will present Michael Haneke’s Amour. This film won several awards among which the Palme d’Or at Cannes, Best Foreign Language Film of the Year at the Oscars, the Golden Globes, and the Boston Society of Film Critics, who also gave the award for Best Actress to Emmanuelle Riva. In France, the Césars gave it all major awards: Best Film, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
Georges and Anne are an octogenarian couple. They are cultivated, retired music teachers. Their daughter, also a musician, lives in Britain with her family. One day, Anne has a stroke, and the couple's bond of love is severely tested.
This 2012, 127-minute film will be presented in its original version, with English subtitles.
