This presentation will discuss the nature and the legacy of the revolts in the French banlieues ten years after. It will analyze its political impacts, not merely in public policy terms, but in terms of mobilization and policy debates. It will focus particularly on the ACLEFEU collective, created in Clichy sous Bois, where the revolts began, a movement that emerged during and after the revolts. Their political effects will be discussed in a broader context: how dynamics of recognition in the cultural sphere affects subjectivities that are forged.
