About

Seminar attenddes will discuss two chapters of a book in progress that examines the contested politics behind the extension of the vote to women over the course of the twentieth century and cross-national variation in the timing of this extension of the franchise. This is a politics in which both legislators and women campaigning for electoral equality had to calculate who would gain from this reform and how to appeal to the multiple groups whose support for it was necessary.
