In this Director’s Seminar, Dr. Peter Maurer will give a first-hand account of the severe challenges humanitarian groups are facing in meeting the most basic needs of refugees in the absence of political solutions to the conflicts that are driving millions of people from their homes to Europe’s shores.
Dr. Maurer is President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and recipient of the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative’s 2016 inaugural Elisabeth B. Wientz Humanitarian Award bestowed annually upon a visionary public figure who has demonstrated superior leadership in a time of humanitarian crisis.
