Professor Nicolaidis will argue that British citizens should not only ask what the EU can do for them but what they can do for the EU. She will discuss the politics of the British referendum on EU membership against the backdrop of alternative visions of the EU. She will analyze the four renegotiations issues (Euro-ins and outs; Free movement; Ever closer union; role of national parliaments) and ask what vision of Europe they reflect. Against this backdrop she will share her thoughts on what scenarios might follow a possible BREXIT, what this would mean for the interests of the other member-states and the constitutional order of the EU, and how these arguments might in turn play in the referendum campaign.
