Oliver Schmidtke is a professor in the departments of political science and history at the University of Victoria. He also holds the Jean Monnet Chair in European History and Politics and serves as the director of the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria. He received his Ph.D. from the European University Institute in Florence. He was a John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellow at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies, Harvard University, a visiting scholar at Humboldt University of Berlin, a F. Braudel Senior Fellow at the European University Institute, and a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Hamburg.
