Kjaer is a Professor in European Political Economy and Governance at the Department of Business and Politics at Copenhagen Business School, Denmark. He is also leader of the research project Institutional Transformation in European Political Economy – A Socio=Legal Approach financed by of the European Research Council project (ITEPE).
While at CES, Kjaer will continue his research project on the evolution of intermediary institutions in Europe. The focus will be on European developments from corporatism to neo-corporatism to governance from the mid-19th century to today. In his work, Kjaer places a strong emphasis on the historical dimension of social developments.
Kjaer holds a Habilitation in Sociology from the Goethe University, Germany, a PhD. In Law from the European University Institute in Florence and a Master’s in Political Science from the University of Aarhus, Denmark.
