Tom O'Grady is a PhD student political science at MIT. His research addresses the politics of welfare states and redistribution in Europe, examining how and why voters, politicians and parties have driven large changes in welfare policies, with a particular interest in combining insights from the comparative political economy and political behavior literatures. O'Grady holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Edinburgh and University College, London. Before coming to MIT he worked as a political staffer in the Scottish Parliament and as an economist at the Bank of England.
