Wang is professor at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, where he teaches courses in cultural studies on European integration and the society and culture of major English-speaking countries. His research interests focus on Western society and culture, multiculturalism, immigrants, cultural soft power, and construction of a nation’s image. Wang is currently working on a project entitled “When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do? Migrants’ Perceptions about Assimilation, Multiculturalism and Its Implications for Integration Policy,” whose goal is to give immigrants a voice in the development of integration policies rather than the hosts’ voice only. As an awardee of China scholarship funds, Wang will be in residence at CES during the academic year 2012–2013.
