Joaquín Almunia, in his capacity as Independent High-Level
Evaluator for the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), will present the findings of
the evaluation report Lessons from Financial Assistance to Greece.
This report evaluates the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, and
cooperation of financial assistance provided to Greece. It primarily focuses on
the ESM program, while taking into account its links with the preceding European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) program.
Almunía will also discuss how the lessons can enhance the ESM’s ability to tackle future crises, strengthen informed policy decision-making, and support the institution’s commitment to fulfill its mandate.
