The vastly unequal distribution of private wealth has become an important topic in the social sciences in recent years. In recent months, Beckert thought about how to define an innovative research program around this topic, building partly upon his previous engagement with the sociology of inheritance. In his talk, he will present these very early considerations. He is not going to present any results, instead, just hunches that he would be interested to discuss with the audience.
