European Union (EU) is considered a central pillar of the genesis and development of the EU project. However, since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the EU's enlargement, many challenges have emerged and eroded its fundamentals.
This panel will focus on the historical evolution and current strength of three vital basics of EU law: the rule of law, democracy, and fundamental rights.
The speakers will focus on how EU Institutions have consolidated over time and the challenges that the current trend of backsliding in some member states poses for the present and future of the EU.
