Jens Blom-Hansen is Professor at the Department of Political Science at Aarhus University, Denmark, where he earned his Master’s and PhD degrees in Political Science. He has previously served as Head of section at the Danish Ministry of Interior Affairs (1990-92) and at the Danish Ministry of Finance (1992-96). His field of research is European politics and intergovernmental relations.
During his stay at CES, Jens will explore the central role of the European Commission in the making of EU regulation. His project investigates how Europe meets pressing concerns such as regulation of the financial sector, influx of refugees from the Middle East, Brexit, food safety, and environmental protection. The project seeks to understand what motivates the Commission’s regulatory proposals.
