Barbara Klemm

Barbara Klemm is a German art and press photographer. From 1955 to 1958 she served her apprenticeship at the studio of the portrait photographer Julie Bauer in Karlsruhe. Afterwards, in 1959, she moved to Frankfurt on the Main and worked in the photographic laboratory of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. In this editorial office, Barbara Klemm started as a freelancer and became a press photographer in 1970. Her work, consistently black and white motives like portraits and landscapes most of all focused on politics and culture. In addition, since 2000, she worked as a lecturer for photography at the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt. Until she retired in 2005, her photos were published in many different newspapers, magazines and books. Some of them even became a part of the photographic memory of Germany.
