Conor O’Dwyer

Conor O’Dwyer is associate professor of political science and European studies at the University of Florida, where he teaches courses in comparative politics, politics of post-communist Europe, and European Union politics. He is author of Runaway State-Building: Patronage Politics and Democratic Development (2006) and has published in World Politics, Studies in Comparative International Development, East European Politics and Societies, Comparative European Politics, and other journals. Currently, O’Dwyer is researching the politics of gay rights in post-communist Europe, tracing the historical development of rights movements, as well as political mobilization against them, across several East Central European countries since the fall of communism and through their “return to Europe” as EU member-states. O’Dwyer will be at CES during the academic year 2012–2013.
