Biography

Rita Nikolai is a senior researcher and head of the BMBF-Junior Research Group "Education and Transitions into the Labor Market" at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB). She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Heidelberg, Germany where she wrote her thesis, "Educational Expenditure in Switzerland in International Comparison." Her research interests include comparative education and labor market research, especially school-to-work transition and research on welfare policy in international comparison. During her stay at CES, she will research social investment strategies in welfare policies, decentralization in education, and the embeddedness of collectivist skill systems in education systems by comparing Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Denmark.
