Stephanie Olsen currently holds a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada postdoctoral fellowship. She received her Ph.D. in history from McGill University in 2008, with a dissertation entitled "Raising Fathers, Raising Boys: Informal Education and Enculturation in Britain, 1880-1914." She has published on the themes of boyhood, juvenile literature, religion, and parenthood in late-Victorian and Edwardian Britain. Olsen is currently working on her monograph, which extends her previous work on the informal education of boys. She raises questions about the concept of adolescence and the role of an increasingly professionalized discipline of psychology in constructing and shaping the modern citizen in fin-de-siecle Britain.
