Verschraegen is a postdoctoral fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders at the University of Leuven, Belgium. His research interests center on European social policy, sociology of human rights and sociology of knowledge. He is coauthor of the book Enabling Social Europe (2006) and co-editor of Studies in Global Justice (2006.) He has published in Journal of Social Policy, Journal of Law and Society, and Social Compass among others. Verschraegen is currently working on two related projects entitled “Smart Governance in European Social Policy? Knowledge and Policy Learning in Social Inclusion and Employment Policies in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, 1990-2007,” and “European Tools for Social Policy.” He will be in residence at CES in Spring 2009.
