Rachel Wellhausen

Wellhausen is a PhD candidate in international political economy and comparative politics at MIT. Her dissertation questions the constraints economic globalization places on emerging economies by examining the conditions under which emerging economy governments break contracts with foreign investors. Her research includes cross-national quantitative analysis and casework drawn from 130 interviews of foreign investors in Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania. Wellhausen also has interests in the political economy of emerging technologies and is currently part of MIT's interdisciplinary project on Production in the Innovation Economy. She is an SSRC Eurasia program fellow.
