Biography

Andreas Grimmel

Grimmel studies political science, law and philosophy. His research centers on political philosophy and European integration theories. Especially, he is interested in the later works of Ludwig Wittgenstein and his philosophy of language which have remained relatively unregarded in political science. Currently, he is working on a dissertation which deals with the role of law and high court judgements in the European integration process. In connecting different scientific disciplines and linking Max Weber's context notion with Wittgenstein's thoughts on human rationality, he is trying to develop an approach called "context rationality" which should contribute to a better understanding of law and its momentum for regional integration in Europe. For the purpose of empiric application and revision of his work he will carry out interviews in Brussels and Luxemburg.
