Biography

Sophie Mützel

Mützel is a senior researcher at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and holds a PhD from Columbia University. Her current research interests center on how newness emerges from small, social configurations in a variety of settings. Her research fields are economic and cultural sociology as well as sociological theory. She co-edited Relationale Soziologie: Zur kulturellen Wende der Netzwerkforschung (2010). She also published in Quality & Quantity, Current Sociology, and Kölner Zeitschrift für Soziologie und Sozialpsychologie, among others. Mützel is currently writing a book-length study on the emergence of a new market for pharmaceutical products. Mützel will be in residence at CES from February through April 2012.
