Biography

Laura Werner

Werner leads an Academy of Finland research project on the "Politics of Virility in Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century European Thought." She is interested in the history of political concepts, political theory, gender, and sexuality. She has co-edited two books, Visions of Value and Truth: Understanding philosophy and literature (2006) and Feministinen filosofia ([feminist philosophy], 2005), and has published articles on the relation of feminism and the history of philosophy, G.W.F. Hegel's thought, and philosophy of literature and film. She is currently finishing a monograph on love in Hegel's philosophy and working on a new monograph titled The Politics of Virility. She will be in residence for the 2011-2012 academic year.
