Biography

Segers is assistant professor of European integration at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. He has published works on the history of European integration in Contemporary European History, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of Cold War Studies, and others. His current research focuses on clashes of \"grand designs\" in the process of expansion of European integration, concerning both the deepening and widening of integration. His research project at CES focuses on transnational coalition formation behind the scenes of European interstate bargaining, over the intertwined problems of common agricultural policy (CAP), the European Political Union (EPU), and EEC-enlargement during the years 19581968. The study combines archival research with new, politically conceptual insights in European studies
