Poiger is Giovanni and Amne Costigan Endowed Professor of History at the University of Washington, Seattle, where she teaches courses on German and European History, gender history, the Holocaust, and historiography. She is the author of Jazz, Rock, and Rebels: Cold War Politics and American Culture in a Divided Germany (2000) and co-editor of The Modern Girl Around the World; Modernity, Consumption, Globalization (2008). Currently Poiger is working on two book projects: a history of the cosmetics industry, beauty norms, and racialization in twentieth-century Germany; and an interpretation of German history since 1945. Poiger will be in residence at CES during the academic year 2010–2011.
