Koivisto is lecturer in international relations at Exeter University, UK, specializing in international ethics, international political sociology, and state transformations. Her research interests focus on epistemic communities of social and political science, and the role they play in transforming the \"social state\" project in Scandinavia and the United States in the 1930s, 1960s, and the present. She is currently preparing a book on these thematics, provisionally titled Normative State Power in International Relations. Koivisto received her PhD from the London School of Economics (LSE) in summer 2009. She will be in residence at CES for spring 2011.
