Join us for a discussion with Helmut Walser Smith on a chapter in his emerging book, tentatively entitled “Our Truth: How Jews and Germans Made the Memory Culture of the Federal Republic,” that considers the experiment of “visitor weeks” in Württemberg in the last two decades of the 20th century. Smith will examine why many German communities invited Jews back to their hometowns and analyze the experiences of those who came back and of the townspeople they encountered.
