The National Health System (NHS) was long regarded as the centerpiece and crown in the British welfare state, but its funding has always been controversial and never enough. Over a decade of austerity since 2010 has created another, and potentially devastating, crisis. The system is understaffed, doctors and nurses are underpaid, and waiting times are outrageously long. This seminar will discuss how this came to be.
