As global challenges have become more pressing and more complex, Europe’s strategic role in tackling global challenges, such as climate change, is becoming more apparent. In his role as European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides will speak about the European Union (EU) as an indispensable global actor.

Stylianides will argue how the EU is using humanitarian and development aid as a means to play a key role in combating climate change and brokering international agreements.

Stylianides will argue that the EU-U.S. partnership is more than security-oriented. It is complementary and based on shared values, principles and interests. He will present the common challenges the EU and the U.S. face, in regions, such as Africa, on climate change, and the defense of multilateralism.
