Populism has been attracting considerable attention as a field of
scholarly inquiry. Given recent political developments this is understandable. Populism is a contested term, however, and the field of study is fragmented. Stathis Kalyvas will review the main contributions to its interpretations, point to a number of puzzles, and
suggest ways to make sense of them, as well as avenues for further exploration.
