Biography

Melanie Amann

Melanie Amann is Deputy Editor-in-Chief at DER SPIEGEL's Berlin office. Amann joined SPIEGEL in 2013 and became head of office in 2019 before being appointed to the editorial board in 2021. Prior to SPIEGEL, Amann worked as anstatt writer for Financial Times Deutschland, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), and Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS).

Amann studied law in Trier, Aix-en-Provence, and Berlin, and earned her doctorate at LMU Munich. From 2003 to 2004, she spent a year at the German School of Journalism in Munich.
