Biography

Louison Cahen-Fourot

Louison Cahen-Fourot is associate professor of economics at the department of social sciences and business at Roskilde University. His research interests include ecological macroeconomics and the political economy of social-ecological transformation. Among other topics, Cahen-Fourot has written on the relationship between growth regimes and socio-metabolic regimes, the social relationship to the environment in the diversity of capitalism, and green central banking.

At the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies (CES), Cahen-Fourot will work on a book project that develops a political economy analysis of the European Green Deal (EGD). It will investigate the extent to which the EGD (i) puts the EU on track to fulfill the Paris Agreement’s climate objectives and ecological goals; and (ii) addresses structural weaknesses of the EU, such as currency, productive, and ecological hierarchies between core and peripheral EU countries, which generate imbalances and complicate the transition to a sustainable economy.

Cahen-Fourot received his Ph.D. in economics from Sorbonne Paris Nord University.

This information is accurate for the time period that the visiting scholar is affiliated with CES.
