Jasper Jansen is a Ph.D. student in political science at MIT. He is primarily interested in historical political economy, historic state-building, political violence and repression, and the politics of memory. Jansen holds two Bachelor Degrees, in economics and business economics as well as philosophy, from Erasmus University Rotterdam and an M.A. in social sciences from the Humboldt-University of Berlin. Before joining MIT, Jansen worked as a research assistant at the Social Science Center Berlin (WZB) and the Humboldt-University of Berlin.
