Political Recognition of the Working-Class Youth.
Jarmo Kallunki is a postdoctoral research fellow in sociology at Tampere University. His research lies at the intersection of sociology, political science, and education, with a particular interest in the social stratification of lifestyles and culture. Additionally, Kallunki has extensive experience in studying education and education politics in Finland, and his research has covered the political history of education, policy networks in education politics, and use of knowledge in policymaking.
At the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies (CES), Kallunki will examine how political and societal actors in contemporary polities can better understand and recognize working-class youth and their political concerns. Drawing from sociology, political science, and youth studies, he analyzes how Finnish working-class youth define their political concerns and how they experience their concerns being recognized in the Finnish polity.
