Kirsten M. Yoder Wesselhoeft

Kristen M. Yoder Wesselhoeft is a PhD student in religious studies at Harvard University. Her dissertation, provisionally titled “An Ethics of Renewal: Muslim Moral Formation and Transformation in Urban France,” is an ethnographic investigation of the teaching and learning of Islam in Paris, Marseille, and Lyon. Her research focuses on three pedagogical contexts: mosques, institutions of Islamic higher learning, and informal study circles. She is especially interested in the spiritual transformations that interact with religious pedagogy, and the local and transnational forms of knowledge that are produced in these environments.
