Biography

Jytte Klausen

Klausen is Lawrence A. Wien Professor of International Cooperation at Brandeis University and an affiliate at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard. She is the author of The Cartoons That Shook the World (2009) about the Danish cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad and the worldwide protests that followed their publication. She is the author of numerous books and articles on immigrant integration, the European welfare state, and social inclusion. Her previous book, The Islamic Challenge: Politics and Religion in Western Europe (2005, paperback 2007), was published in German and Turkish. Klausen received the Carnegie Scholars’ Award (2007–2008) for research on Muslim faith communities in Europe. Klausen’s current research is on Islamist extremism and terrorism in Europe and North America.
