Conferences

Each year, CES hosts several conferences that convene leading academics, policymakers, and doctoral students with an interest in European history, politics, economics, and transatlantic relations.

H.E. Carl Bildt, Former Prime Minister & Foreign Minister of Sweden spoke at the 2014 Summit on the Future on Europe at CES
  • The Summit on the Future of Europe is the flagship conference organized at CES each fall to analyze the most pressing challenges facing Europe today and generate ideas for confronting them. Last year's Summit was entitled "Europe and the Forces of Disunion" examining Europe's foreign policy and economic challenges in the face of changing dynamics in the United States. The fourth annual Summit is scheduled for November 6, 2017.
  • In accordance with its aim to train the next generation of leading scholars of Europe, CES supports conferences for doctoral students that provide an opportunity for them to present current research to peers and faculty in a stimulating environment.
  • Recent conferences at CES have explored a broad range of topics and have commemorated World War I, Portugal’s transition to democracy, and Michel Foucault’s landmark text Let mots et les choses.
