Join us for a discussion exploring the causes of rising inequality since 1980. While many explanations focus on broad market changes like technology, globalization, or shifts in labor, Erik Peinert highlights a different perspective: how struggles between firms themselves shaped new laws and policies. In particular, Peinert will look at how changes in intellectual property rights and antitrust rules favored certain companies, especially those with valuable intangible assets like patents, and how this shift affected the distribution of profits across industries.
