Biography

Katarzyna Wojnicka

Katarzyna Wojnicka is an associate professor of sociology, a senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Work Science, and an associated researcher at the Centre for European Research at the University of Gothenburg. She is also the editor-in-chief for NORMA: International Journal for Masculinity Studies. Previously, she held postdoctoral researcher positions at the University of Leeds, Humboldt University of Berlin, and the University of Gothenburg. She also worked as a senior researcher at the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM) and as a research associate at Dissens – Institut für Bildung und Forschung e.V. in Berlin. Wojnicka was the founder of the first university course on the sociology of masculinities in Poland. Currently, she leads three externally funded research projects on fatherhood activism in Europe, transnational abortion mobilization, and European queer memorials.

During her time at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies (CES), Wojnicka will investigate current forms of fatherhood activism in Europe, with a focus on practices and discourses surrounding gender (in)equality, masculinities, and fatherhood. The project aims to fill the knowledge gap on European fatherhood activism by conducting a scientific investigation from national, comparative, and transnational perspectives.

This information is accurate for the time period that the visiting scholar is affiliated with CES.
