Éloi Laurent is a senior economist at OFCE (Sciences Po, Paris). A former aide in the French Parliament and for the French Prime Minister, his current research agenda focuses on environmental sustainability and welfare economics. A former visiting scholar at Columbia University and CES, he teaches at Stanford University and Sciences Po. In fall 2013, he will teach a class on “European environmental issues and policies” in the ESPP concentration at Harvard. His project at CES consists in advancing his social-ecological research agenda by exploring the notion of the “social-ecological state,” or how to integrate environmental issues in social policy and the welfare state. He will also continue his work on new indicators of well-being and sustainability, following the Report of the Stiglitz-Sen-Fitoussi Commission.
