Dobbs is a PhD candidate in the department of political science at MIT. Her research interests include immigration, urban politics, organized labor, citizenship, and public policy. Her dissertation project explores how and why the process of immigrant political incorporation varies across new migrant-receiving countries in Western Europe. She has received support for fieldwork in Spain, Ireland, and Northern Ireland from the US Fulbright-Schuman Program and the Center for International Studies at MIT.
