Dimitri Constas

International Relations Scholar.

Biography

Constas is professor of international relations and founder of the Institute of International Relations in Athens, Greece. He has been a noted scholar at the University of British Columbia, Canada; a Robert Schuman fellow in European Integration; a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars, Washington, DC; and a senior Fulbright scholar at Princeton University. He has studied multilateral diplomacy with emphasis on human rights and served as ambassador to the Council of Europe, Strasbourg, during the Greek Presidency as well as member of the Venice Commission for Democracy through Law. His current research compares EU and Council of Europe responses to irregular immigration with emphasis on immigrants\' fundamental rights. He will be in residence from the end of January to April 2011.
