Join us for the end of fall Writers’ Forum, where current seniors will reflect on their research journeys and share insights from their works in progress. This interactive session invites juniors to learn from seniors’ experiences navigating archives, fieldwork, writing challenges, and evolving arguments, offering a candid, behind-the-scenes look at what it’s really like to craft a thesis from start to finish. Presenters include:
Selam Ambaw
Selam's thesis examines the history and structural bias of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), a central tool in linguistics.
Maria Cheng
Maria's thesis examines Denmark's resistance to the euro. Through interviews with various stakeholders and archival research, she uncovers the sociocultural forces behind Denmark's contradictory currency policy and its underlying relationship with capital.
Adelaide Parker
Adelaide's thesis examines the effect of democratic decline on social values in Hungary. She investigates the impact of Viktor Orban’s rise to power and resulting democratic decline on the social values Hungarian citizens hold.
