Biography

Octavio Ruiz-Manjón

Ruiz-Manjón is professor of history at Universidad Complutense, Madrid, and a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University (1979), and at Harvard (2003). He is the author and editor of several books, among them Los significados del 98 (1999) and Fernando de los Ríos (2007). He has recently published a new edition of Vicente Cacho Viuí's, La Institución Libre de Enseñanza (2010) and an edition of letters between Indalecio Prieto and Fernando de los Ríos (2010). His main fields of research are intellectual history and electoral studies. He is currently carrying out a research in the commerce of ideas between the US, Spain, and Latin America in the transition from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. Ruiz-Manjón will be in residence during the academic year 2011-2012.
