Harvard College European Society

The Harvard College European Society is the principal undergraduate organization for Europeans and Europhiles at Harvard. We seek to both bring European culture to the Harvard College community through social events such as our annual Oktoberfest, Venetian Ball, and Feria de Abril, and to provide a venue for discussing European current affairs through our affiliation with European Horizons, a nationwide student-run European affairs think-tank, and our regular series of dinner discussions with professors and policymakers. We are affiliated with the Center for European Studies and also work closely with European clubs at the various Harvard graduate schools on joint events. We offer opportunities to participate in several types of exciting events, including: HCES Dinner Series, CES Student Breakfasts with visiting European dignitaries, outreach events, conferences, publishing articles.

To contact HCES or join the mailing list, please write to HCES President, Taylor Houghton.

Join us for our three signature annual social events at CES, in the Busch Hall Atrium and in the courtyard:

  • Oktoberfest: Every October, we have a German-style Oktoberfest, with authentic German food and music. Lederhosen encouraged!
  • Venetian Ball: Every February, we hold our annual Venetian-style masquerade ball with waltzing and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a dance party with a DJ. Masks provided!
  • Feria de Abril: An excellent way to end the academic year, we hold Feria de Abril, a Spanish-style garden party with Spanish food and drink, in the CES courtyard.
