CES affiliate Paul-André Bempéchat to lecture at the Elie Wiesel Institute in Paris

Among the composers to be discussed are Felix Mendelssohn, Ferdinand Hiller, Max Bruch, Fromentin Halévy, Giacomo Meyerbeer, Gustav Mahler, Arnold Schoenberg, and Ernest Bloch. Works representative of their struggles toward assimilation (i.e., Mendelssoh's 'Reformation' Symphony) will be analyzed within their socio-historical and artistic frameworks. The lectures will be Wednesday evenings, 5:30-7pm, May 22nd - June 26th.
