This panel will examine important social, legal, and political issues and realities of immigration in the United States and Germany. Some questions to be considered are: How do the US and Germany differ in their preferred approaches to immigration? How does the resurgence of right wing parties affect public opinion on immigration? To what extent are immigrant groups empowered or disenfranchised? What changes will President Obama’s executive action on immigration bring?
